Optometric Billing-Billing For Contact Lens Bandage Update for 2012

Thanks to Dr. Eric Botts of OBC posted an update on Facebook  that has answered a question we have long held concerning the billing of Contact Lenses as Bandages.

"92070 (bandage contact lens) has been replaced with 92071 (fitting of bandage contact lens to treat ocular disease) and 92072 (initial fitting for treatment of keratoconus)."

As always opticXpress Strives to be on top of billing and coding procedures in order to best serve the optometric community.

    1. Only of the patient's plan covers contact lenses. Most likely, a vision rider will be billed for this. They are separate from the fitting. The initial lenses you may order for the patient as PART of the actual fitting are the only think covered under the fitting code.
